New Course Alert! Cybersecurity & HIPAA: Safeguarding PHI for the Future

Hi everyone,

So a few months ago you may remember that I put out a poll on doing a 2026 Security Rule Updates training and asked all of you what you felt would be most helpful in terms of getting the information and knowledge on it from a training. Most of you requested that it be in a virtual, at-home form that you can reference whenever you needed to, rather than a live training.

So, after working quite a while on this, I’m pleased to announce that it is officially up and running! I’m going to be putting more bells and whistles on it in the coming weeks to sharpen up its look and feel, but all of the information is there and ready to be viewed.

The course is good for 3 General CEUs for the Boards of SW/MFT/MHC and costs $40 to take. It consists of modules you must complete in sequence, all consisting of informational pages, videos of me explaining things, and then a quiz at the end of each section. Complete all of these modules to get your completion and credits!

Some things to note:

• You need a FTN account in order to access this training.

• You will have to read everything and watch the videos most of the way in order to progress. This will not be a “click through and get to the end test” kind of course. It actually will take you about 3 hours to complete.

• There are handouts in some of the informational sections. Feel free to take them and use them! They pair really well with our Sample Policies and Procedures Templates we put out on this same topic a few months ago (which you can also still get, btw).

• Once you are completed with everything, you will get a completion email automatically. I will submit the CEs to CEBroker for completions done during the week each Sunday, and then email you the CE certificate for your records.

• You can go back to this training at any time to review the materials.

I will update the training as needed for any other changes that come out relating to these updates.

ALSO! In the coming weeks I will be scheduling out some "office hours" for those who completed the course but have more specific questions or want a bit of live discussion about it, just to also include that touch of live CE. BOLO for those dates to be posted when I can reserve some time for them.
